The Municipality of Teresa, in the Province of Rizal, has been awarded a Certificate of Recognition by the National Solid Waste Management Commission – Secretariat (NSWMC) for its residual waste management program.
Teresa Mayor Rodel de la Cruz received the award, handed by Atty. Zoilo Andin, Jr., Executive Director, and Deputy Executive Director of the NSWMC-Secretariat and the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC), respectively, during the municipality’s flag raising ceremonies last May 7, 2007.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is set to kick-off an easy financing mechanism that will enable jeepney operators in Metro Manila to acquire new engines for their vehicles.
Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Angelo T. Reyes said the engine replacement program for jeepneys in Metro Manila is part of government’s efforts to dramatically reduce air pollution.
“Vehicular emission is still the major cause of air pollution in the metropolis. About 70% of this air pollution is caused by vehicular emissions,” Reyes said.
