World No Tobacco Day

Dear fellow advocates,

This coming 31 May 2009 marks the 20th World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) with the theme “Tobacco Health Warnings”.

DOH, FCAP, WHO, and various civil society partners are organizing a free smoke-free CONCERT at the Rajah Sulayman Park in Malate, Manila at 6pm, which will be preceded by a *BIKE*/WALK for picture-based health warnings that will start from the *Cultural Center of the Philippines grounds
at 4pm*and proceed to Rajah Sulayman Park.

Celebrities and bands that have confirmed their participation include Bianca King, Hale, Dirtsky, Myrus, Modus Operandi, My Secret Arsenal, Sinosikat, Pizenlab, Cooky Chua, Pop-Popoy, Gayuma, Pupitre, and Itchyworms.

We hope you and your family, friends, and colleagues will be able to join the bike/walk as well as the smoke-free concert. We expect a crowd of around 1,000 from civil society and community groups, and
barangay leaders from different parts of Metro Manila.

Please make time for this once-a-year activity. Bring your families if you can. And pass the message to your networks. We are NEVER going to create a mass movement if we don’t start with ourselves.

Should you have any question, kindly call the FCAP office at telephone number 332-0490 or get in touch with Sonny Paje (0917-9516781) , or Joyce Sierra (0917-5221065) . For emails, you can reach FCAP through this address: fcap@tobaccocontrol .ph.

Regards,
Yul

Sent by Charles, an invitation to the World No Tobacco Day activities, 31 May 2009… Okay, so this is already set for tomorrow.. spread the news via all communication media — blogs, unlocked phones, tv, radio, mms, sms, word of mouth! Spreading this information is almost as crucial as quitting as a smoker so let’s all take part and do a chain-message mailing… I actually know a few people who’s got sick cause of smoking, so I hope this event will wake other people up.

Let’s go smoke-free!
