Eco-friendly Dentistry in the Philippines?
I have a lot of dentist friends and I was wondering if they’ve gotten into the practice of eco-friendly dentistry.
Aside from, of course, the biomedical wastes clinics produce on a daily basis, water is also a key environmental element in the field. There’s an article by the Canadian Dental Association in 2007 stating that “Eco-friendly dentistry” attempts to reduce the industry’s detrimental impact on the environment and promote environmental awareness and sustainability to patients.
Eco-friendly dentistry also includes making sure that the patients are okay by “reducing chemical use”. Well, in the Philippines, people (especially kids) would just pull their own teeth, and presto, no chemicals. Hehehe. I bet NJ Cosmetic dentists and others would be shocked to know this. hehehe. But of course, it’s different when you’re at the clinic.
Another would be having to reduce water consumption. It’s cute that dentists here in the Philippines also teach people the right way of brushing, and that usually includes (aside from brushing per se) having to use a glass (filling it with water), when one cleans his or her teeth.
