News yesterday featured the Ecowaste Coalition (together with PAWS) ‘s appeal for people to avoid (or shall i say stop) using firecrackers to celebrate the coming of the new year as it is harmful not just to us humans, but also to animals and the environment.
Instead, people may just blow horns or honk their cars… or just set to maximum the volume of their radio or tv sets… have a ktv party too!
Anyway, speaking of new year — it is my “resolution” to be more fit and healthy …

By now, we all know that Green Presidential candidate Nicanor Perlas was unfairly declared a nuisance by the Commission on Election (COMELEC)… I dont know what the “real” reason was behind his qualification — but seems to me it’s probably because he is not that “popular and rich” as compared with the others.
Oh well..

It’s hot!
Yes, Mayon Volcano is still on Alert Level 3, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology. It has been like that since Monday.
The sad thing is, instead of people, particularly farmers, wanting to evacuate — they are now returning to the foothills of Mayon, despite the fact that the volcano could erupt at any moment now. Yesterday was the awarding of industries heralded as having exemplary environmental performance by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
No less than super business tycoon Lucio Tan was there to receive the award for his company, Absolut Distillers Inc. Other winners include Analog Devices – General Trias, Cavite, Nestle Phils., Inc.-Cabuyao Factory and Nestle Phils., Inc. – Lipa Factory, ON Semiconductor, PSI Technologies, STMicroelectronics, Inc., and Vishay Philippines.
