The past two days, we were at Caleruega for a two-day seminar-workshop for students (13 schools) on Solid Waste Management. The premise of the workshop is to mainstream ecological solid waste management (RA 9003) in schools, with students acting as trainors.

Toyota Autoparts (in Laguna) sponsored the event, and they will also help finance the set-up of the ecological solid waste management system in the participating schools. Noble actually, but also great, especially since Toyota Autoparts won an international award for the project, which was started last year.

Was also a lecturer last year, but, as they say, things get better in time. And so, this year, I’d say we had better activities lined up, plus more proactive students. Hopefully, they’ll do an even better job as far as “eswm mainstreaming” in their respective schools is concerned.

The Young Environmental Stewards of Holy Rosary College assisted during the event, giving much needed assistance to the school-participants — Child Fornmation Center, Dominican College, Panorama Montessori School, Laguna Bel Air School, Rex Dei Academy, Mary’s Ville Academy (main), Meridian Education Institution, St Ruiz Montessori School, Our Lady of Assumption College, Mirriam institute Inc, Casa del NiƱo Montessri School Of Sta Rosa, Holy rosary College, and Mary’s Ville Academy (branch).

Anyway, it’s going to be an annual activity for Toyota Autoparts, Save the Silang Sta. Rosa River Rehabilitation (S3R2) Program, and the NSWMC-EMB-DENR. So schools in Sta. Rosa, better join the program.
