Yesterday, I was participant to this mini-talk on Climate Change and the Media, with ABS-CBN’s Mr. Abner Mercado as speaker. He echoed some of the things he learned when he attended the Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum, “The Heat is On: Climate Change and the Media”, in Bonn, Germany last June.
I love how he said that though here, media should be “walang kinikilingan” (neutral), if we are to talk about climate change, then we should shift perspectives and be biased — pro-environment. True!

“Unplug to Save”…
This is MERALCO’s campaign for the environment. It is simple, very direct, and it compels people to really “unplug”.
… and it is, indeed, very timely. Especially now that the globe is uniting for climate change. Unplug all unused electrical equipment, and you get to save energy.
At the office, make sure you unplug your computer (and printer) after you use them. Turn off the lights when you go out of the room. At home, same thing — turn off the tv, dvd, or any other appliances when …

Watched 2012 last Saturday, and basically about how the world would end (possibly on 2012, for Mayan prophecy believers). The film touched global warming and climate change, then goes on to show that that is probably how things would go eventually — water filters will be extinct (as well as majority of the human race) as there’s gonna be literally a “water world”. Of course, the film did say that the water would eventually subside, it just would take time. Of course, it’s fiction, but who knows, right?

The Philippines is one of the most vulnerable when we talk about Climate Change. Why? It is an archipelago — with a long coastline of 32,400 kilometers from which 70% of the country’s 1,500 municipalities derive income.
